A New Musical Play to Celebrate the Legacy of Umm Kulthum

A Groundbreaking Cultural Project

In a remarkable initiative bridging Egypt’s rich heritage with modern innovation, El Adl Group for artistic production announced a strategic partnership with Hyde Park Developments to present the first-ever musical play dedicated to the artistic and human journey of the legendary Umm Kulthum. The announcement coincides with the 50th anniversary of her passing, marking a significant cultural tribute to “Kawkab Al Sharq” (Star of the East).

Celebrating Egyptian Art on Stage

The press conference held in Cairo unveiled the ambitious project, which promises to merge art with cutting-edge technology. The play will revisit Umm Kulthum’s most iconic milestones—from her childhood and early beginnings, through her artistic peak, to her collaborations with the greatest poets and composers who shaped Arab identity. Using advanced visual and digital technologies, including artificial intelligence applications, the production will recreate the atmosphere of her concerts, allowing audiences to feel as though they are part of her timeless performances.

A Vision Beyond Cairo

The collaboration between El Adl Group and Hyde Park aims to extend far beyond Egypt. Plans are underway to showcase the musical on prestigious international stages, presenting Umm Kulthum’s legacy as a global cultural offering. This vision underscores Egypt’s role as a hub of cultural tourism and artistic excellence, with the play combining traditional performance elements, innovative stage design, modern costumes, and spectacular choreography.

Statements from the Partners

Eng. Amin Serag, Managing Director of Hyde Park Developments, emphasized that the company’s involvement reflects its deep commitment to culture and the arts.

“Real development is not only about building cities but also about elevating minds and reviving cultural identity. We are proud to contribute to this rare project that delivers Umm Kulthum’s legacy to new generations through modern visual and technological language,” he said.

Dr. Medhat El Adl, Chairman of El Adl Group Studios, also expressed his pride:

“Umm Kulthum was more than a singer—she was an icon representing the soul of the Arab nation. Through this play, we want to reconnect audiences with her era and allow new generations to experience the power of her voice in contemporary ways. Culture and art are the foundation upon which we build the future and preserve heritage.”

A Broader Artistic and Cultural Context

This new musical forms part of a wider program of cultural initiatives led by Hyde Park Developments in 2025 to enrich Egypt’s artistic scene. The company previously hosted performances that revived Umm Kulthum’s legacy at the Kasr El Nil Theatre—the venue of her final concert—alongside shows featuring Lebanese star Hiba Tawaji, renowned musician Oussama Rahbani, and grand nights with Hussain Al Jassmi, Ahmed Saad, and Disco Misr.

Through these initiatives, Hyde Park seeks to establish art as a cornerstone of sustainable development, linking urban investment with cultural projects that reinforce Egypt’s status as a beacon of civilization and creativity.
